A notable element of Oklahoma’s defense is on the move.
main linebacker David Ugwoegbu enters the transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Matt Zenitz.
Ugwoegbu started all 13 games for the Sooners in 2022, finishing second on the team after amassing 110 total tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
His play was good enough to earn him an honorable mention selection to the Big 12 by league coaches after ranking fourth in the conference in tackles per game in the regular season.

Ugwoegbu is finishing his OU tenure after appearing in 50 career games and playing a significant role in defense for the Sooners over the past few seasons, starting 20 contests and appearing in all 37 over the past three years.
His departure now means that two of the three predominant linebackers for Oklahoma’s 2022 defense will be elsewhere in 2023, with DaShaun White out of the NFL after completing his eligibility. Danny Stutsmanmeanwhile, will be back with the team.
With Ugwoegbu and White gone, a bigger role could probably be reserved for rising youngsters Jaren Kanak, Kobie McKinzie and kip lewis with Indiana transfer Dasan McCulloughwhich was added to the fold last month.
