Videos are shared on social media from the Cincinnati Bengals 27-16 win over the Ravens Baltimore players – especially linebacker Roquan Smith – showing what appears to be questionable sportsmanship in the Week 18 game.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh broached the subject with reporters on Monday, explaining, “I’ve studied the game very closely, obviously. Anyone can do it. Clearly our players played a clean game, as they always do. Millions of fans also watched the game, and they saw the same thing.”
Some of the shared videos included the following:
“There was a lot of cheap swearing,” Bengals defensive back Cam Taylor-Britt said. “Just know that we owe them. Even though we earned this (expletive), we owe them.”
Asked by reporters if he’s ever had to face the same opponent back-to-back, Smith replied: “Not really. But at the end of the day, they’re just nameless, faceless opponents.
Harbaugh added Monday that starting quarterback Lamar Jackson wants to play and is working hard, but declined to say whether he expects Jackson to be available. An ESPN report ahead of the Week 18 game Jackson missed suggested that Jackson has a good chance of playing in the Bengals’ rematch with the Ravens this weekend in the Wild Card round.
The NFL appointed Clay Martin as arbitrator for Sunday night’s playoff game.
