Miami Offensive Tackle Transfer John Campbell announced his commitment to Tennessee over Florida and Florida State on Monday night.
Campbell, a rising sixth-year senior and 11-game starter for the Hurricanes in 2022, traveled to Florida over the weekend after naming UF among his the four first transfer destinations last week. However, Campbell cut his roster down to three on Monday morning before the commitment and ultimately opted for the Volunteers.
Campbell’s commitment elsewhere certainly stings as the Gators saw their starting offensive tackles of the 2022 campaign, Richard Gouraige (NFL Draft) and Michael Tarquin (transfer to Southern California), leaves the team as Florida begins to prepare its offseason program.
Rising redshirt second year austin barber, a first-team All-American freshman by College Football News for his starting and rotational role last season, is expected to inherit a starting tackle role for UF going forward. However, it remains to be seen who will line up against Barber in 2023.

With multiple top-five openings and reserves to fill, Florida should continue to seek offensive line talent in the transfer portal and potentially the high school ranks in the coming weeks ahead of National Signing Day on July 1. february.
Note, custody transfer Baylor Micah Mazzcua is program to make his commitment Tuesday at 8 p.m. and will choose one from Florida, Nebraska and Auburn. Mazzccua, who entered the transfer portal on Dec. 18, became a starter for the Bears in 2022 and allowed just one sack in 11 appearances.
